ISR Lesson FAQs

ISR requires that each child not potty trained longer than 6 months wear 2 layers of swim diapers. This “double
protection” will help to ensure a safe pool environment for everyone. The outer layer must be a washable swim diaper that
fits snugly around the legs. The inner layer can be a second washable snug swim diaper or a disposable diaper.

Kids potty trained for more than 6 months should wear a swimsuit. It’s important that the swimwear is comfortable and doesn’t restrict movement.

Yes, parents are encouraged to observe the lessons. Watching can help you understand the process and support with positive words of encouragement. It’s important to stay calm and positive, as your child will pick up on your emotions.

It’s not uncommon for young children to cry during their first few lessons, as they are adjusting to a new environment and routine. The instructor will continue to work with your child in a gentle and supportive manner. It’s important to remain patient and trust the process.

Its hard to hear our children cry. Parents who have lost a child to drowning would give anything to hear their child cry again. If hearing your child cry makes you uncomfortable, consider the unimaginable pain of never hearing that cry again. It’s also important to remember that children cry for many reasons, like not wanting to get in their car seat, not wanting to go to a new school, a change in their routine, all things that are part of their growth and development.
